How are STi levers fixed onto the bars?

Bit of a dumb-ass question but I've not had to remove my bar tape yet so I don't actually know how the levers fix onto the bars.

I'm thinking of getting wider bars at some point in future as mine feel a little narrow to me, and they certainly look a bit too small on the bike as it's a large frame.

If you pull the brake lever to the bar, and look into the gap it leaves, you will see inside a hex bolt (sometimes a removable rubber hood will obscure this view, just slip that off first)- this tightens a band that wraps the bar and joins inside the lever. Once your tape is off, you can loosen the bolt and the band will relax enough to let you slip the levers off the bar.
