Don't think he'll have it for long. There's a guy called Alan Bate who is nearing the end of his RTW. So far he's cycled about 28,000km and it has taken him 124 days. He's finishing in Bangkok and is currently in the north of Thailand. So provided his trip conforms to the rules then he's about to smash the record.

the big difference is Alan bate has been supported where Vin Cox was totally unsupported. I should imagine that makes a huge difference

He was supported most of the way, but for this record I don't think it matters. So provided his route was okay then the fact that he had support will not stop him from being awarded the record.

Probably shouldn't be the same record, but AFAIK it is.
