New Bars.....

Ok,
a Little Background info... just bought a Specialized Pitch with a set of 160mm Fox Talos 36's
I enjoy the odd jump and fast descent (the Cwmcarn Twrch Trail type stuff and the free ride area are brilliant examples of my "likes")
anyway. the bike as it is is rather heavy (not too much... just enough...)
im thinking about getting a lighter set of bars, currently it has a Haussfelt Stem and Bars (DHride? i think they are called)
im after something lighter but still strong enough to ride Freeride (im a complete novice haha) and some fast DH like Cwmcarn.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Cheers

So what do your bars weigh?0

315g fro the bars, and unknown for the matching stem as i cant see it anywhere for sale.www.settingascene.com - MTBing in Wilts and the southwest, join up for info and ride details.0

That's not a bad weight for a reknowned tough bar. I think weight saving money would be best spent elsewhere to be honest.0

yeah i agree, if you want to spend money on saving weight, it's best done on tyres, wheels etc. the potential 100g saving on your bars and stem isn't going to make a huge difference and will be fairly expensive (£100-£150). I have those bars and stem on my scott, they're good stuff, very strong.0

You could save weight with FSA gravity lite: http://www.on-one-shop.co.uk/acatalog/i ... CGRCW.html
But tyres would be easier to save weight, and it's rotating weight so lets you gain more effiency per gram saved. Specialized eskar 2.3 are quite light. look for folding tyres, as they're lighter0 -
The thing for weight reduction is always just to weigh stuff, OEM components can be randomly heavy.Uncompromising extremist0

Northwind has a good point, but remember some oem stuff is very light. For example on my rockrider 5xc i got new bars and a new stem, hoping to save weight, only to end up adding weight to the bike because the original bars were just under 210g and the stem was 120g! On a £370 bike!0
