Well when I was in wales I got given this Wills Wheels gillet my a member of the wheelers, it looks pretty cool and keeps me warm and seems a shame to not use it. Would it be bad of me to wear this regular when I'm not even in wills wheels? I hear you can buy em in shops too.

I just got given it, it's really good kept me warm, looks cool and I am called will :p.

So you think it'd be ok for me to wear it? I'd just be kind of embarrased if I overtook a load of wills wheels people or they came airing it past me or come the other way and wondered why I was wearing one of there tops.

I think it would be ok to wear it, would be a talking point, just don't tell them you actual name is Will, may seem ironic or 3rd person embarrassing. :)
  • as far as I am aware I dont ride for Rock Racing or Banesto but it doesnt stop me wearing it !

You won't go passing many if any of them (pretty quick bunch). Wearing a club kit when I'm not in one is a no no for me. I was in a small club some years ago, and we'd see folk wearing our tops, but as we knew the other members......

Why not join them - Will's a cracking wheel builder.....

    You're not? I'm shocked! Shocked!

By way of coming clean also, I'm not Gilberto Simoni, nor have I ever ridden for ONCE. I recently changed clubs but continue to train in old clubs kit, as it's loads nicer.

If he didn't want you to wear it, why would he give it to you?

  • OK, if we're confessing, I didn't win the "Most aggresive rider" competition at the 2006 Tour of California!

I'd wear the gilet, they guy gave it to you after all, it's not like you stole it...

and I've never ridden for Team Magnus Maximus Coffee. I just fancied a long sleeve jersey and windproof and Maggy was flogging them for a tenner each, proceeds going back into the team

The person who gave it to me was not in wills wheels, god knows where he got it from.

I would wear it for sure, I wouldn't give a monkeys.
I wear old Liberty Seguros, Fassa Bortolo and Caisse kits because I am a pro who kept the kits after I left each team... oh no hang on, I am bullsh*tter that's not true, but it felt good to lie for a moment there

Some clubs are so big that even if you rode past a club run, no one on it would know with absolute certainty whether or not you were part of the club or not.

Will, you don't need anyone's permission to wear anything. If it keeps you warm then wear it and be grateful it was free.
If you're still not sure, post up 'Who wants a lovely warm gilet for free' and see how many responses you get.

Please wear it Will, I've had enough illusions shattered already with northerneil, snakehips, disgruntledgoat, greasedscotsmans, hammerites and Sonny73's confessions.

The idea that you don't actually ride for Wills Wheels would just be too much for me to take!!!

...can I have your autograph? :D

I have another confession. I also have a men's French champions jersey with "Rona" on it. Rona sponsored a woman's team, so my confession is that I'm not the French women's national champion. Sorry about that...

I suppose I'll have to 'fess up that I'm not in the Chianti Classico team, although I have sampled several bottles of their finest over the years.

A fact the French cycling establishment are no doubt relieved to learn...

I am also not a member of the Campagnolo Factory Team. In fact the only jerseys I wear out of any sense of right are my club one and my Duvel jersey.

  • Do not wear it in competition coz you are breaking the rules. Sportives would be bad form too. Perhaps OK for general riding when a long way from where the club is from so no one would think you were actually a member.

Club kit is for clubs. Wearing another club's kit is like a schoolboy wearing another schools uniform. Just wrong!

Professional team kit is a bit diffferent tho.

This would be particularly relevant if the other school happened to be an all girls school.

go ahead and wear it for when your out riding, just not when competing. If you can buy them in shops as you say then I don't think the club are too bothered about others wearing their jerseys
