front mech size??

what diameter front mech would be right for a frame tube diameter of 30mm......

28.4mm or 31.8mm ??? (are these size's min or max of the clamp?)

    what does it say on the seat clamp?

    and the tube will not be 30mm it will be 28.4 or 31.8mm

    what frame? year?

    Most modern mechs come in the biggest size..normally 34.9 and use reducer spacers to accommodate different tubing sizes.New mechs normally come with the spacers inc. (normally 2 sets)

    frame: giant boulder 2006

    post clamp is 34.9 but....... seat tube tapers in at bottom into approx 30mm where mech will sit? had a 34.9 XT mech but was too big!!

    Ok that frame came with an E type front mech.

    BB mounted.

  • cheers for that, must say never seen 1 like that before :?

    can u fit a conventional 1 with shims?? or should i be looking for this e type mech??

    nope.

    you will need an E type and an E type BB or use one less spacer on an external bb set up.

    or you could bodge up some spacers to make a mech fit but not advisable.

  • My 31.8mm alivio mech has come today and no bodging requied as its a pefect fit not a shim in sight :D:D:D
