Treatment for Gravel Rash?

Had a nasty low-side on black ice (with embedded gravel) yesterday and I now have gravel rash on my hip as a result. What's the best treatment for a speedy and infestion-free recovery? Letting air get to it? Sudacrem? Iodine?

Go to the hospital and get it scrubbed
And, they aren't kidding when they say 'scrubbed', either...

I had horrendous gravel rash all up my right hand side, they scrubbed and dressed it and you can't see any remains...

The only RR scarring was from where they had to operate on my lower leg so the dressing was not the same.

My right thigh, ar5e cheek and flank were like raw meat.

44mph will do that to you...

    My wife suggested stabilisers!

I had a deep knee cut scrubbed once when I was a kid and I remember the blood and gravel flicking onto the wall. It was so mess they couldn't stitch it so I now have a manly scar.

I'll pop along to the company medical centre and get them to have a look at it. I don't really want it getting infected while I'm training in Majorca next week.

I said I don't really want it getting infected while I'm training in Majorca next week (can you tell I'm excited?).

The size of some of the bits that come out are just ... crazy. I'd say it was more stones than gravel.

My hip's still scared after about 21 weeks. Although, it did go rather deep.

Heal up well! You'll be back on the bike soon. :D

You guys are probably right but unless it's REALLY bad I'm more of a hotbath with dettol man but then I have a serious aversion to hospitals & doctors. I'd rather have scars than visit a hospital; I realise that this isn't helpful advice.

I did the hotbath and dettol route first, then went to the hospital to get it scrubbed.

I had manuka honey wound dressings for weeks, lovely on toast.

I went to see the Doc and he said I needed to man-up and get a backbone. Then the nurse had a look, and said make sure I don't pick the scabs off!

So it's TCP rather than TLC. Typical.
