would you splash £750 for a brand new 2008 FELT COMPULSION 3 ???? Is it worth it, cant find many review for it. I will mainly be riding Afan, is it enough of a bike for that?

Seems like a good deal to me, not a lot you can buy for £750 (full susser-wise)0

looks sweet for the cash , will be fine for trail centre riding.
decent forks / shock , brakes are nothin special but everything else looks good though.
thoroughly enjoy my felt HT , never ridden any of their FS's, not many about , which i also like.
ignore the logo to the left , i'm completely neutral.

The higher up models haven't had such good reviews. 2008 models were good but 2009 had changes to the geomoetry and general frame details. Apparently the newer frames are overly heavy with weird geometry (steep for intended use, iirc). Can't remember which mag(was probably WMB) but their conclusion was something like: "works alright but nothing special [compared to the other bikes on test maybe]".
Then again at that price it could be a good deal if that's your limit. I must say that I have no personal experience of them either. If I wasn't scraping together cash for a new hardtail frame I might have been tempted.
*edit: I guess it would help if I'd read the OP properly. If it is the 2008 model then, based on my post I'd say definitely. Go for it (there's a review of the 2008 Compulsion 2 with same frame here on bikeradar).0 -
i've got £1300 to spend, and was looking at 2010 Trek EX5 which is £1250. But everything is way overpriced compared to a few years ago. So i'm thinking of buying the felt and then spending the extra £500 on shiny upgrades, new brakes, rims, bars, seat post, and maybe forks0

could get a very nice custom built HT? u know the size of frame you need?0

Don't want to get a ht, doesn't suit they way I ride0

It is a good deal at £750 - but also plenty of good deals at £1250. ie for 1100:

Had a MONGOOSE TEOCALI a few years back in 08, couldn't get on with it don't know why just didn't trust it on the "hold on" sections at Afan. Think I'm gonna give the felt a go, at least I've got a good frame to upgrade from then0

Well maybe you should test this one first lol!0

mate you better off saving more money and geting yourself a better bike! I think tbh, your best bet at thtat price range would be do save up more and look in the £1000 line! Most shops by the way havea price promise policy, so if you find it cheaper online, they will price match it to whatever you find it! AS LONG as it is in stock adn they are ready to buy.0

I've had one of these for the last 2 years and say it is a great little bike.
I recently went and did a few of the seven staines trails with some mates (who all had £3000 to £4000 lapierre's and santacruz's) and I could more than keep up with them, and they're not slow.
I have made some changes to the spec though. The forks are now fox float r's (to match the rear) the chainset is now raceface evolve xc and the brakes/levers/shifters are now all xt, so it has a full xt groupset, almost.0 -
i ride a compulsion 2 around afan and love it just go and se one, take it for a ride and see what u think0

i totally disagree with that, when i bought my felt my other option was a pitch comp which was slightly lower specced but £300 more!!! felts are great bikes and for £750 it looks like a good deal0 -
