Is it still possable to by new MTB's with gripshift changers. I have an old 98 Rockhopper that I am thinking of changing that has the old gripshft system on and have had no problems with it. I find that the lever chagers difficult, due to my thumbs getting stiffer. (age i expect). Any ideas?

  • Is that with a 9 speed cassette? Fully agree with the last bit
  • yep 9 speed / 8 speed compatible. ask your lbs is they have any old models kicking about. you will get them cheap as they are not currently in fashion

You'll struggle to find a bike that's specced with them, but you can certainly buy them from an SRAM dealer. They're still reasonably popular with XC racers.
