Walled Fixed Bike Rack for Sloping Top Tube Bike?

Due to space shortages in our house - and a wife who doesn't really see how precious my bike is - I'm having to consider storing my racing bike up on one of the walls in our utility room. I suppose I should feel lucky that the OH lets me still keep the bike indoors at all!

Can anyone recommend a good bike rack that will allow a bike to be stored on a wall up off the floor? I've seen some but they mostly seem designed for horizontal top tube bikes. I have a Planet X Carbon which has quite a sloping top tube.

I'm also a bit concerned that the type of things I've seem before might damage one of the carbon tubes - is this a needless worry?

Any suggestion for something that will safely achieve this will be greatly appreciated - not to mention contribute to the ongoing state of domestic bliss in our house! :D

Thanks in advance for any help.

Marcus

Doesn't matter what frame you have.
Mine where from PBK, but none on their site anymore...

  • I have looked at these but they won't work in the room I have to store the bike in! Unfortunately, the room is very narrow so using this type of mount would block access to the rest of the room.

I need someting that would mount the bike 90 degrees or parallel to the wall, not perpendicular like these ones. Thanks for the suggestion however.

Anyone else have any other suggestions or ideas?

Hang it upside down from the wheels using 2 large plastic coated hooks from B&Q - £1.89/pr - screwed into the ceiling joists. Hooks need to be just a bit wider than half your handlebar width from the wall - 250mm
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

    3 suggestions:

    1) Pulley system (got one from Lidl for £5), attaches to seat and bars, hoist to ceiling, could be placed as close to the wall as a wall mounted rack.

    2) Ladder hooks (or similar) from B&Q, cover with pipe lagging, can be positioned to account for the compact frame.

    3) a "Gravity Stand" - I use one for my P-X and Tourer which live in my bedroom (just like this one: http://www.aplaceforeverything.co.uk/sh ... 274&cr=fgl ) it leans against the wall, arms adjust for P-X frame. I got mine for £35 on ebay.
