Really? I'm looking for a new jacket. I might buy a real one from Endura or Gore. Not the cheap knock-off chinese rubbish you're pushing

I reppped for a surf company (which O'Neill is) - they just rebadge Far Eastern cr4p these days and charge a premium.

I went mountain climbing in a surf branded "technical" jacket and nearly got hypothermia - it wasn't at all breathable as claimed so I got very cold.

O'Neill make decentish wetsuits (one of only three brands that do) but other than that, avoid.

    Absolutely concur.

I was given an O'Neil "waterproof breathable smock" style jacket (factory shut down job). It actually looked great but was useless performance wise. It's more fashion gear.

Well as a surf company, their westuits will be properly tested by their users, so they probably put more thought into them than a 'technical jacket'. Who wears a jacket while surfing after all? So as blister pus says, they can let the performance of those go, and just focus on the fashion.

Advocado Green Endura Montana, won a Mtb mag's "Best Jacket" award, during the last century. Except for a small barbed-wire tear on the sleeve, mines still going strong.

Yellow Berghaus 3 layer XCR Goretex...let's strong winds in.

Fluo orange Jaytex jacket with zip off sleeves...too hot for milder days.

    Nike ACG Mtb jacket, black/lime green...good all-rounder after 10yrs!

Fox heavy duty Snowboard, black/grey...my 18yr olds nicked it, so can't comment.

Got various other windproof/cheapo jackets, all much of muchness. Depends on how hard I want to ride, how high - local ride is 1,200 ft - and how long, etc.

Bails - but they sell that kind of gear for premium prices - An O'Neill jacket will actually cost more than say a North Face or Sprayway equivalent.

The only surf brand that makes top notch technical gear is Finisterre. Everything they make is functional first, "green" second, stylish third.

Being a surf brand doesn't automatically mean good wetsuits - in fact only O'Neill, Rip Curl and Xcel make wetsuits worth bothering with.

You can wear a wetsuit on a bike. Seen quite a few people bike to the beach with a board under their arm

You are on the Crud catcher section - "Where everything gets caught"

A surf brand was mentioned so we talked about it. If you don't like it then don't read it.

I will be buying a new biking jacket on the weekend. It will be hi-viz yellow in colour. It will be biking specific and made by Endura. I have a lot of experience of using their products already, so can safely assume that this one will be perfect for my needs.
