Basically I have decided that I dont like many other brands as much as BMC. Whether its marketing or whatever coz lord knows i have never ridden one.
I have had 2 specalized and its time for something a bit different.
Im guessing many people will say they are a bit boutiquey but I have saved long and hard and reckon I could have £2000 for a bike (and not much else after)
My question is Do I buy a one (any BMC riders comments really welcome)
or
Do I buy a focus cayo for 1275 and spend the rest on wheels (which I want almost as much as a new bike)
I am aware that I write like an excited child at christmas time. Cheers

If you want it, get it and be happy. I would probably go for the SLC01 over the SL and start saving again for the wheels.
It won't necessarily be the best performance you will get for your £2,000 all in but you will have a bike you love which is the important bit. If your heart is set on a BMC you are unlikely to love a Cayo however decent a bike it is. (BTW I would go Planet X over Cayo, I have owned both.)
You can start saving again then for the wheels... And look out for offers; I have seen excellent wheelsets for as little as £250 (bought some Easton EC90SLs at that price on a one-day special from CRC.)
BMCs are lovely looking bikes.0 -
Which BMC were you looking at getting? Evans have quite heavily reduced SL01's, would leave 400 quid left over for some wheels 8)winter beast: http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr34 ... uff016.jpg

Got a Cayo Campa which I'm impressed with but BMC look the business.
In you position I'd probably go for the BMC - it's easier to find the funds for a new set of wheels than a frame.
As it happens I sold the wheels straight of my Cayo (Fulcrum 5s) and put my existing Easton Ascent II on, so if you go Cayo you could sell the wheels and be part way there.
Thing is if you like the look of it you'll ride it more and that's what it's all about.25th August 2013 12hrs 37mins 52.3 seconds 238km 5500mtrs FYRM Never again.0 -
Get the BMC.
If you buy the Cayo, it will always be 2nd best in your head, and consequently, it wont last.
The BMC is upgradable, so you can keep perfecting your dream machine, as and when funds allow.Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0 -
Thanks for your advise guys, really appreciate it. Feels good.
I am off to look at evans as suggested!0 -
Bit of a grave dig, but if anyone is looking for sweet deal on a BMC check out the closeout section of Compedative Cycles.
http://www.competitivecyclist.com/road-bikes/frame/2009-bmc-team-machine-slt-01-sram-force-complete-bike-6949.html
They are selling the 2009 Team Machine SLT 01 with Sram force group set for US$2299 (RRP $4600). I've just paid for a 61cm, should be here in about a week. I've always loved these bike and now I get to own on, so excited!0 -
BMC imo My LBS gets them in and they always look fast just hung up. I like the skeleton junction around the seat-tube.M.Rushton0
