Health and safety

Yay...... not. i had 5hrs today of health and safety talks, it was probably worth it. It is for our work experiance althpugh they made it seem as if we were all going to have an accident and die. :twisted: :lol:

    The amount of risk assessment and ethics forms im having to fill out just to go to a park to do a study for a university project is absurd. Some of the things on there are a joke.

    I should carry a rape alarm and know how to use it apparently.

    I HATE HEALTH AND SAFETY

    and anyway, rape alarms are like the story of the boy who cried wolf. Most of the time they are set off as jokes by students who got them free through promotions during freshers fayres etc. And im pretty certain if someone set one off a good stamp on it would soon turn it off.

    what is elf n safety? I'm on work experience at the local cement factory,on the first day as you would expect the usual lecture about wearing overalls,crash hat,steel toecap boots,ear plugs,no smoking ,that sort of thing.Went down into the workshop to find that the blokes I was going to work with all smoke.
    Over here the attitude seems to be "we breathe cement dust all day and what is a cigarette going to do"

    I can't imagine how much paper work you would have to fill in to be able to go into one of the ovens
    I assume this is French petrol - be careful in reverse - the car will retreat rapidly at the least provocation.

    Unfortunately people use it as an excuse when they can't afford/don't want to do something. They just say "oo, we can't because of Elf 'n' Safety".

    I remember when there was no H&S. There were a lot of dead and injured people but not too many stupid people.

    french attitude may be fairly relaxed but last friday somebody had his toes crushed (he dropped a palet of bricks used to line the ovens on his foot and it crushed the toe cap and chopped his toes off). we just happened to be working above this oven and the mecanic I was working with said he heard the pompiers going past, we went out of the building to find the pompiers and the police breath testing everyone and taking statements .SO this week the manager is on the war parth to make sure everyone is wearing crash hats and glasses

    Yeah.... cos crash hats and glasses will stop a steel toe cap being crushed!
