Rear mech... Old v New

Been stripping down my old bike to see what parts I can transfer to my new lapierre spicy.
Most of the bits can't really be transferred as my old bike was very downhill specific. The only thing to catch my eye was the XTR rear mech.
Now this raises the question what's gonna be the best option an old XTR rear mech(1999/2000 i think) or the SLX rear mech supplied on the spicy.
Also does anyone now if a XTR RD-M950 rear mech will even be compatible on a 9spd cassette??
