im looking at a number of bikes and i have found the one i want but it has Suntour XCR-LO hydraulic fork with cr-mo 30 mm stanchions, magnesium lowers, preload adjust, 100 mm of travel and lock out are these good for a bigigner.

Good entry bike, you could always upgrade the fork at a later date0 -
i have a gt avalanche 3.0 2008 and i have slowly done it up check the bike in my link at the bottom of the screen
the gt has a very good frame and will take everything you can throw at it and its a good base to build up from0 -

im going for the gt avalanche 2.0 disk 2010 but im going to change the fork on the front to a rock shock fork after Christmasdiamondback LS02

pretty standard fork on bikes costing less than £400.
you need to be spending £500+ to get higher level forks unfortunately.
still a good bike for the money so just buy , ride and enjoy.0 -

I had a pair of SR Suntour forks on my Scott Aspect 45, The first pair I had seized up within about 3 weeks of buying the bike, my LBS put another pair of the same on and they also seized, then we tried a pair of 80mm Rockshox Dart 2's and they have never let me down....
I think it's best just to avoid Suntour or get it changed quickly0 -
They vary a bit - just like Darts! Some darts don't even move!
There are about 4 models of XCR, then the XCMs, XCT...0 -
i have been doing a little bit of looking around and found that the gt probibly isnt the best bike out there for the money so i have found the carrera fury wich has a better fork and better brakes and is also alot lighter i found all this out of the forum and my magazine witch is called (what mountain bike) which i have found useful and would recommend it to anyone. well thanks for all your help.diamondback LS02
