It might be a silly question to ask , still there is no harm in asking is there ?

I know there is plenty on the marlet for sale still how many are actually effective in foggy conditions .. ??

The bright ones are good - too many to mention. I assume for 'being seen' from a distance.

Generally anything over 200 lumens will work fine in city areas and anything 400+ in unlit areas for being seen by I'd guess.

I think it also depends on the density of the fog.

    On a car
Rear fogs are about being seen

Front fogs are about seeing the edges of the road.
This is why there are as low down as possible and have wide angle but short throw light patterns.
If you need front fogs on then you shouldn't be going very quickly at all, it's either >100m or >200m Visibility for them to be legally in use.
