Hi there
Does anyone know of an 11 speed chain which I can join without the expensive tool. Ideally would use those special quick links
Thanks

I have not seen an after market version yet, just the campagnolo versions. However, if you search the threads on here a few people have suggested you can use a power link from the kmc chains with a campag 11 speed chain to make it easy to remove.

For what it's worth, I joined my 11 speed without the expensive tool and really do not believe you need it at all, but others will give you a lecture on warranties and exploding chains no doubt!

The only difference with the 11 speed chain is that after inserting the new pin, you have to wind the tool back sligtly form the other side to deform the pin to create a firm fixing. In reality, the material deforms so easily that a standard tool does exactly the same job.

ok then if you need the tool
what happens if the chain goes while out on a ride - surely there is a way without carrying around that great big tool in your pocket.

Carry some SRAM Powerlocks or the narrowest 10spd KMC quick links as a "get-you-home" solution.

Do what 99.99999% of cyclists would do.

    Phone home for a lift.
