..don't want to cast aspersions on the seller as maybe totally genuine but something strikes me as a bit fishy here. Might be the bargain of the year though!

I don't see that it's such a bargain with a starting price of £1800. In any case if you Google the number given you see it's for an equestrian dealer. Unless it's a really sophisticated front, it doesn't look dodgy as such.

    Why?

Should it not just smell Horsey? The guy is also selling a £19500 Horse Box Van thingymebob :)

"full of Campag Chorus equipment" <-- eh?
" selling for a friction of its true value" <-- What?

I'd imagine someone selling a bicycle of that quaility would describe it rather better, and include a decent photograph!

I wouldn't go near it with a bargepole.

It's a fair price, probably about half what it cost, but the Merak frame is a few years old and is in fact hydro-formed aluminium alloy main triangle with carbon fork, chain and seat stays. I don't think it's dodgy, just a buyer with a little knowledge.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

"for more info please call" <-- sounds fair
"Collect in person" <--- So you can see it before paying?

Not the way I'd sell a bike and it might or might not be a bargain but they are not asking for western union transfers or whatever so it does seem a little harsh to assume it's in some way dodgy!

May be legit, but poor advert to try to sell a bike for £2k (although seems overpriced). Listed as carbon, when it's Alu, and as already said it is quite an old design - the Merak frames were originally £1,400 but can be picked up for a lot less than that now (I almost bought one two years ago new for £750)
Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos
