Hey guys, I'm thinking about purchasing a new 12-23 cassette for my new DA wheels, been looking at the Ultegra cassette as I'm running one now which is a 11-28, what are the benefits of buying a DA cassette? There is only 35g difference between them both, and the price for the DA cassette is £100 more.....

I"ll agree with Smokin Joe. I havn't checked out the latest DA cassette but it usually comes down to using some titanium cogs (and a few other bits) vs steel for the Ultegra. The steel will last much longer and function the same. Of course you'll have the extra weight of that 100 quid you saved to haul around so best send it to me and I'll "carry" it for you.

I think the dura ace cassettes now have 4 (the lowest 4) cogs made of titanium to save weight, also slightly more aggresive machineing to remove a bit more material. They also have an alloy lockring. Given the pricee hikes of shimano then you might as well get a 105 cassette (1g heavier than ultegra) and beg or buy an aluminium lockring to save a little bit of weight. Performance is the same, weight is then 30g more but for £100 less than Dura Ace.
