Hollowtech 2 used on a SRAM Chain set?
Hi
I have been told that I can use my Shimano ceramic bottom bracket on a SRAM system by installing a 1mm washer on each side. Thus increasing the width of the BB by 2mm. Is this twaddle or true please? The threads must be the same and so on for this to work.
Cheers for any reply.

sram uses a different system on the non drive side bearing.
if you were using a Hope or an Enduro BB set and bearings they do reducers to allow their BB to be used with the GXP set up."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Sram = truvativ GXP bottom bracket

Reuse the reducer/ collar if you already have a Sram/ GXP bottom bracket.0 -
Anyone using a Hope BB with GXP adaptor?0

Maddog 2 does:

I indeed have in the past.
It worked okay. A bit prone to the odd creak but a re-grease would sort it.
This was on a Hope BB though - it depends on what you mean by "Shimano ceramic BB" as to whether the Hope reducers will fit your BB.Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0 -

Would you say the Hope BB spins more freely than the boggo Sram GXP BB?0 -
I only used the Hope setup so couldn't really say. I run the boggo GXP cups on my current commuter but that is with a different chainset so not really a fair comparison.
The GXP cups are fairly draggy but so are most Shimano cups for that matter. The only cups I've found that are genuinely free-spinning are my ceramic ones from these guys:

but the ones I have are press-fit so a different ballgame altogether.Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0
