Hi,

I want to take a trip over to Danbury common at some point in the next few weeks and wondered if anyone knew where I can find the trails and the 'canyon' when I get over there.

I've read a few stories of people only finding it after riding over there for a few months.

Any help appreicated!

Ian

drive to danbury from the a12 as you come into the middle of it you come past a little somerfield/co-op on the left then there is a mini roundabout
turn right at this and then park up in the car park a short distance down.
ride out of the car park down the hill to your right.
take the first left which goes up till you get to a little green with a path that leads into the forest.
at this point you should see loads of bikers whizzing about or walking their bikes back up, ask them or just ride down the main path and the trails are all to the left of that.
i'm going up this weekend but not sure what day.

No probs - the 18 to 39 2 hour. Not sure what the conditions will be like. Have done the other two races already which went OK and were muddy'ish but this weekend could have everything!!

I did the first round but not second as my bike got nicked :-( but I'm back on the new bike and expecting a quagmire for WS3!
I'm in the Fun Cat as had not raced XC before.
BTW - in 2 hour races what happens if you do say 2.5 laps and then the 2 hour time limit runs out before you complete the lap?

This is my first season racing - D2D was my first event. Best thing to do is just get on the bike, enter and have a go. Once you've done it at least you know what you need to do better!!

For the event it is like Le Mans, Its about when you start the lap. So in your example, as long as I cross the start finsih line within the 2 hours I am allowed to finish the subsequent lap - my time would be 3 laps at 2hr 43mins say. The winner is the person who completes the most ampunt of laps in the shortest time. In terms of training, the goal is to get across that line prior to the 2 hour limit and get the next lap in. So for a two hour event, don't train for two hours in the bike - train for at least 3 and so on!!

Keep your eyes open for me - I'll be racing the Stumpy and have a dark Green Disco3.

Thanks - just about makes sense now. I did keep an eye out for you but didn't see you. One last thing...which gets you a better placing - 3laps in 1hr 59mins and didnt carry on or 4 laps in say 2hrs40? Second rider went further but took longer
Had a good time - a good first race on my new bike.
    Hope your race went ok.

The race went ok - I think everyomne was suffering the effects of not much riding recently and too many mince pies. Glad you enjoyed it - the course ran nice and quick yesterday, it was a nice course. The last two have been really muddy. At the end of the last one my bike weighed in 7 pounds heavier than when it started because of the mud.

    The 4 laps wins.

Think about it more around how many laps you start within 2 hours rather than how many you complete. As long as you start that lap before the clock clicks on 2hrs it will count. The final positioning is then based on number of laps then time. Dummy answer below:

    1st Rider 1 - 4 laps - 2hrs 45mins
    2nd Rider 2 - 4 laps - 2 hrs 50mins
    3rd Rider 3 - 4 laps - 3hrs 35mins
    4th Rider 4 - 3 laps - 1hr 57mins

Rider 4 is clearly quicker than rider 3 but is a lazy wotsit and didn't carry on. It makes no odds that rider 3 took approximately 1hr 45mins to complete the final lap, he completed more laps (and started the 4th within the 2hr time limit) so his 4 laps trumps 3!!

    Clear as mud!!!
