Not renewing my subscription ... it's basically a load of b0llox, haven't read it in months !!.. who said that, internet forum people ?0
-
Actually thought the last few had got better...0
-
Stopped ages ago now. Only take a scan in WH Smiths.
I also gave up on Cycling Plus after a year of subscription. It deteriorated noticably over that period.0 -
I actually quite like it. Not read this month's yet though.Scottish and British...and a bit French0
-
I do normally, I just thought this month's was over Sky'd0
-
Every month I pick up the wrag and vow to cancel my subscription.
There is literally no journolistic value in there at all.
For me, it's a tedious advertorial brochure, comprising monthly love-letters to Mssrs Wiggins (4th at the Tour TM), Cavendish (6 Tour Stage wins in 2009 Tour TM) with special extra space dedicated to the 'Oracle', that is Jonathan Vaughters.
To add insult to injury, much of this tripe is then condensed and rolled out in Cycling Weekly?!
I must be a mug!0 -

I quit with cycle sport years ago for similar reasons. I thought they were negative and sneery about everything in the sport (a 2 page spread on why Valverde isn't that good in the last one I bought), desperate sanctimony and manufactured outrage about anybod testing positive, no fact checking to speak of and an editorial policy to have the workd "Armstrong" no the cover every month even after he reitred killed it for me (see "the new Armstrong?" "Armstrongs favourite...." etc etc).
Sadly, Pro Cycling seems to be going the same way now..."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"
@gietvangent0 -
I think they adopt a similar approach to listing items on eBay to get more 'hits'.
Eg - Exclusive Interview - Levi Leipheimer (not Armsrtong) etc etc
Perhaps it's going the same way as football - journos are so scared of upsetting riders/team principals, that they write the usual dull fluff for fear of being 'struck off' the list and they're not allowed to have dinner with the riders and sit on their bus.
To be fair to Vaughters, he plays the game beatifully. Hardly won a race for the best part of two years, yet he/his team/his riders/his staff managed to secure a dozen pages in CS every month!0 -

I agree, he is a bit tedious at times but by doing this he's keeping his sponsors happy without adopting a 'win at all costs' attitude. It's one thing that scares me a little about Sky.Scottish and British...and a bit French0 -

itll be scaring Brailsford soon too0 -
The problem is, the quality of features you can read on t'internet is just as good, whether it comes to race (p)reviews, retro stuff, bike reviews etc. And of course the mags are always a month behind the curve
The only thing you get a lot less on the net is the rider interviews - which of course is usually the most kiss ass part of the mag.
Just renewed with PC for 3 months at £5 but beyond that, what's the point? I feel kinda sorry for the magazine industry, it has formulated no answer to the internet in terms of a new business model, although the Rouleur/Ride Journal approach of very high quality paper, pics & notable feature writers (but of course then high cost) is one way to go,
Albeit at much lower volumes of course - I'm a sucker for that kinda stuff but I still wont buy rouleur.___________________

Look on the bright side. You can always play "spot the bogey" with the picture of Brailsford on p.42'This week I 'ave been mostly been climbing like Basso - Shirley Basso.'0

I have cancelled my sub. to the comic, the letters page has become so bizarre, Are they trying to get us killed or arrested? I shall stick with C+ for my monthly fix of adverts and training advice (to ignore) plus the deeply interesting Sportive coverage :?
T'internet supplies me with the current information and the forums make entertaining reading. That is it really. Ride is simply cycling pornography and should be banned (except for my copy, of course).The older I get the faster I was0 -
Stopped Buying Cycle sport or Cycle Lance as i called it. even e-mailed the letters page to tell them that their mag was getting more shyte by each passing issue. 5 months in a row the Texan Messiah was on the front. then the same old story`s with american riders just to satisfy the yankee readership - I said it`s a BRITISH mag and its gone all americanised just like those 2 nobends Ligget & Sherwin with there "Team" this and team that and oh lance has been training hard this "Fall" for F**k sake oh you mean Autumn just so we can pander to a country that cant speak the queens english properley. Cycling weekly is not getting much better its full of adverts for DVDs and Videos that they cant flog cos they are too expensive.0

@Gazetta67
You realise that American English is in many ways more English than British English?
Colour rather than color. Where do you think all those u's come from mon ami?0 -
Interesting the "British" team have gone the Americanised "TEAM SKY" route, eh?
Anyway, if you sell your magazine in the US and the UK, you go for the American terms / spelling. Bigger market. After all, having a "u" in colour was only a money making scheme by the printing guilds in the UK back in the day.Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -
Well does anyone remember "Winning" magazine, started off a good mag then it went all "Your the man Greg" wooo hooo "Hey Man" always remember one of the last issues i ever bought that they had 6 pages of the Coors US state pro champs and next a 2 page report on the THREE week Giro d italia. - yes get your priorities correct eh - i`m afraid Pro-Cycling is now going down the same road, why cant the yanks have their own edition and just leave ours alone to concentrate on Europe and not give a flying F**k what Kojak Leipheimer has for breakfast.0

Can't see a lot of Queen's English in that paragraph, dude!0
