Well i managed to break my right humerus near the shoulder last week skiing.
Had a metal plate and 7 pins to repair it

    Cycling weakly
  • uni cycle turbo training?
...the bicycle is the most efficient machine ever created: Converting calories into gas, a bicycle gets the equivalent of three thousand miles per gallon...
  • They look to have done a good job fixing it though!
  • I have considered getting or borrowing a turbo training not sure how easy it is 1 handed

The operation was done in Moutiers hospital in france and the service was brilliant

did hear a crack when i had the fall and it did smart a little, just waiting to see the fracture clinic at home for timescales on recovery and when i can start using the bike again

    OUCH

That bottom screw/pin is too long it goes right through the bone, is that going to itch on the inside of your arm?

Turbo training is easy with one arm, being doing it for the last couple of months due to this...

Similar to yours, but also had a posteriorly dislocated shoulder and took the end off the humeral head (look at the top of the bone).

Ouch. I had the same injury 3.5 years ago. Well, the same dislocation, but mine wasn't diagnosed for 4 months. The fractured clavicle and humerus were but they missed the dislocation, so I wore the bone down to a pulp.

Had a McGloughlin transfer and have reasonable movement, considering.

Nasty how did you do it?

i'll look into getting a turbo trainer to keep the fitness levels up

Do either of you have problems with shoulder pain when riding because of the injuries?

    Ouch, you have my sympathies.

I did mine playing football about 6 years ago, it led to me giving up football. Someone clattered me from behind, and my body landed full force onto my right arm. I wasn't sure what I'd done at first, I just knew something wasn't right, and then someone said "Oh god look at your arm".

I didn't have to have any metal work, but a brace, my arm in a sling and strapped to my body for four months! It was so depressing.

Then once I had the all clear my arm had wasted away so much I couldn't even lift my own arm up. Hence my parents going mental when they realised I'd driven the 100 miles home to see them with only one real arm working! I knew I shouldn't have done it, but was desperate to get out and about again, and the car needed a good long drive.

Everything is fine now, doesn't effect me at all. My humerus has got a permanent bend in it, but now the muscle has recovered you can't see the bend - but can feel it.

Clipped from behind by an alleged* drink driver just over three months ago.

Still too early to tell. Considering the first month had to sleep sitting up in bed which meant I didn't get much sleep I am doing far better now. Did my first ride on the road last Saturday (just an hour) and the bike felt as nervous as I was. I just don't have the strength back yet. My arm is painful all the time and tires quickly.

I can say it feels noticeably better every day and I am sure that I will be fine in time, but just need to get my confidence back.
