hi guys, i'm working up in north wales in 2 weeks time and i have to drive up past llandegla so i thought i'd take the bike and do some riding. i've never been there before so how does it compare to say cwmcarn or afan in terms of technical riding? is it easier or harder? cheers guys :D

  • Llandegla has a red & black trail. Both are great fun but not especially technical.

As such I'd say Afan & Coed-y-Brenin are more demanding. Haven't ridden Cwmcarn.

    Hi
I,ve ridden Afan, cwm carn and llandegla
In my opinion afan is the best of them for xc riding much more technical than llandegla which is ok for a blast round but nothing to tax you.
Llandegla gets very very busy at weekends so i only go on summer evenings when its much quieter and you don't get held up by others
As you'll know the downhill at cwm carn is brilliant.
Have you thought of trying the marin trail or penmachno they are both better than llandegla in my opinion
    cheers

    ive ridden all 3

i would say the main difference is: Llandegla would be nice on a HT whereas Afan and cwmcarn with a HT is like being on a pneumatic drill

llandegla flows nicely, its much smoother, if i remember rightly there were a few sections with really nice flowing jumps and berms-was probably the black run, but the main difference was definately the ground was much less rocky that our south wales centres, and the climbs were much easier, but everywhere is like that if your used to cwmcarn

cheers guys. thanks rhyko, you're turning into a font of all knowledge

rode the wall at afan this morning for the first time it was good fun :D still some snow on the higher ground! cool, i'm only going to have 2 hours max at llandegla so i thought that'd be good for a nice smmoth blast around :D
