Here's the highlights:

The peloton kept a really tight leash on all attempts to break away. Cardoso managed to slip away in the final furlong as his Portuguese national champions kit is designed to blend perfectly with the tarmac.0 -
That was some attack for the win.
Sheesh!Note: the above post is an opinion and not fact. It might be a lie.0 -
Good to see Voight back in action, I hope he continues to build back into breakaway form.
Good to see Valverde and Evans showing good form too.
Valverde for San Remo in a small breakaway group!!!0 -

Yeah he best be ready to make a small breakaway for the border if that's the case."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

That is one ugly jersey!
Thanks for the feeds, Art. Where are you getting them from, out of interest?

Damn I forgot about that. Is he not cleared by CAS?0 -
Well done Valverde and Evans; two of a just a few riders at the front throughout last season from Spring to Autumn, and now again already in January. Hopefully not a dying breed.0

Shame hes an attacking rider and good to watch.
Given the wide spread acceptance of doping use and given the less than equal treatment of those suspected of using, and the likelihood of never being caught, i do wonder if now might be an opportunity to announce an amnesty and at the same time a universal UCI led set of rules, standards and best practice along with stricter punishments. These rules and guidelines would detail elligibility seperatley and in addition to domestic laws. i.e. you could be a drugs busted pro cyclist but not eligible for UCI events. providing of course you could find an employer. current riders might not want to sign or agree and thats fine but most contracts have less than 2 years to run and the standards could start immediately.
i.e. we cant ban a rider today for not signing the agreement. but you can say that from 2013 teams are only able to enter qualified riders. i.e. those riders that meet the criteria for inclusion. in that way the stricter uci event exclusion framework can be implemented immediately and the riders and teams have several years grace to get their status and profile in place but the stricter more transparent and equal framework of rules and regulations start from day one.
I know that this should be case already and some say that that is in place including passport etc but it doesnt work all the time so maybe a holistic view and re hashing is all thats required. Clearley some of the blazers at UCI and individual federations would have issue as theyre fiercly independant and political but thats the chalklenge to tidy up the cheating and move the sport forward.
It would not damage cyclings image, its already synonimous with doping but could draw a line under the whole period. It wouldnt impeed human rights law or the right to make a living if a uci sanctioned rider who signed a code of practice in order to enter UCI events was no longer invited to compete after breaking his or her agreement.
And the grand tours could apply qualifying criteria for their events that might include eligibility to ride UCI races without losing the independance they need to operate their business0 -

Valverde is amazing; so much stlye and panache on the bike. Beating him in an uphill sprint is very good going.Contador is the Greatest0
