Dawes Galaxy Propstand Question

This might be a daft question but has anybody else found a problem fitting a center propstand to a Galaxy. They either interfere with the front gear cable or rub against the rear tyre. I tried a twin leg Pletcher, but lifting a fully loaded tourer off the ground to kick back the stand didn't work out.

    My wife's bike has a stand that attaches to the bottom triangle tube near the drop out on the non-drive side. Looks pretty ugly, but it wouldn't interfere with anything. It is very stable if you have weight over the rear wheel, but I'd guess if you were using front panniers as well it may not be so stable?
