Hi-

Is the Spesh Sirrus the same as the Roubaix in geometry? I have seen a sirrus frame for sale and wanted to know if it is poss to build up to a drop handlebar jobbie rather than a flat barred thing.....

pretty sure they wont be but you can check on the specialized website where the spec for this years and the last several years bikes can be found if you want to be exacting about it.

But you can still put drops on it if you want. Just watch out with the V brakes and the levers. You'll need to get something compatible or an adapter.

No, they're completely different. The sirrus is a hybrid bike and while it is possible to do a drop conversion it's still not going to be a road bike proper. The top-tube length and seat tube angle (the two most important measurements for frame fit) are at opposite ends of the spectrum (bearing in mind that the Roubaix itself is already designed as a 'relaxed' fit road bike. The cheaper version of the Roubaix is the Specialized Secteur.

  • I've got the Roubaix expert and the Sirrus ltd, both '07, both great bikes but totally different rides.
  • Having said all of the above, I recently converted a my old Sirrus Pro from 2002 into a drop bar with an ultegra groupset on it as a winter bike and it's tickety boo. Sure it's not the same ride as the Roubaix expert I've got as my Sunday best but it saved me a few quid on buying a bottom of the range bike as a winter hack so can't complain.
