Just built up my Cervelo and need a comfy / light saddle.

Got a Time Carbon Air Flow on it at minute but its a wee bit like a razor?

Any suggestions?

it doesn't really matter what anyone suggests - because everyone's ar5e is different. Trial and error unfortunately....

To be honest the words comfy AND light are not two words that generally go all that well together as far as saddles are concerned. As somewhat proven by your current saddle.
It's a question that's been asked a Zillion times before and gotten a Zillion replies without anyone being able to agree on much. Well, sort of anyway. All I can say is get something with some padding on it. Seems that more than a few people on here like one called the Spoon. I'm not familiar with it as I live in the States.

...as said above, alot depends on your own @rse and it's preferences, together with the distances you intend to do.

However, popular models that regularly come up are:
    Charge Spoon
    Fizik Arione
    Brooks
    Specialized BG (various)
    Selle Italia Flite

...(there will be some I've left out here, but I'm sure others will add).

In reality those saddles really are for show bikes.

If you want a really light (145g) saddle that actually is quite comfortable (for me and plenty of others anyway) then look at:

    http://www.evanscycles.com/products/selle-italia/flite-kit-carbonio-flow-saddle-ec021580?query=flite%20carbonio

Yeah still not exactly cheap but for the weight it's a bargain.

Have been thinking of getting a ISM Adamo Road Saddle, seen a guy with one at the weekend and he swore by it, I tried it and damn was it comfortable, well for the 5 mins I tried anyway. Anyone else got/tried one?

  • Seriously Speedneedle thats never a good name!!

I use a Fizik Aliante saddle, I've done quite a few miles on it and have no complaints at all its quite light too i think so that gets my vote! Plus it sounds more comfortable than a speedneedle any day!

On my posh bike, I have a Selle Italia SLC. Brilliant saddle. Just goes to show that it's niot the amount of padding, but the proper placement of padding that is key.

Fairly expensive - but worth every penny for the comfort.

 The striped end is the front, and you keep the rails parallel rather than the saddle surface, just ordered the century version

Is there any flex in the front, I'd hate to get pinched?
  • Yep, you wouldnt want any thing you want to keep to drop into the gap!

Hard to explain but the front end is about 2 inches shorter than a normal saddle, so your preciuos things are kept clear, no real flex felt at all.

+1 with Lazy Loki. The Carbonio Flow is worth a look see at that price, esp. if you're anywhere near an Evans shop.

if you are after a Fizik Arione , worth looking at the Concept EX from Wiggle. Its a chinese copy of the Arione and only costs £12 .. I have bought one for my commuter bike and it is very good. Not as good build quality as a proper Fizik but then it is only 12 notes.. Colour is white & grey ( not bad ), - not 2 diff shades of brown as per website...
