Windstopper Active Shell for winter ?

saw a good deal on a Windstopper Active Shell jacket, just wondering if anyone has one and are they any good for winter riding
i presume the Active Shell is a lot lighter than a Soft Shell as they say the jacket is packable as it doent have the fleecey inner
so would the jacket be similar to softshell in terms of warmth if you just wore an extra layer under

I am also going to buy a windproof jacket, and would also liek to know if the Windstopper lighter active shell or the heavier softshell is the best buy, meaning which will work best and which will gave most versitility.
