Hi,

I'm a norwegian spening 2 weeks in Orlando, Florida in february, and i've wanted a Trek Madone 5.5 Pro for a long time now. Thought i could buy one when visiting. Trek is so expensive here in Norway, so i hope anyone can help guide me through the jungle of american websites.

I found this one place: http://scooty-cyclying.weblodge.net/
The sell Trek madone 5.5 PRO (2009) for 2000$, to good to be true??

Found this store which is in Orlando: http://davidsworld.com/product/trek-mad ... 9109-1.htm Here i can get the 2010-model for 3700 $.

But i'd settled with a 2009-model (because of the price) if i could buy it from a trusted store/website, and hopefully less than 3000 $. Any suggestions ??

I only want a new bike, so please, no used-suggestions.

If you know of any store nearby Orlando, or any websites i could order the bike from and have it delivered at my hotel, i'd be thankful :)

Best wishes,
Eirik the Viking (who's trying to ride a bike)

have you established what the excess baggage and import taxes are going to add to the purchase price when you get it back to Norway..?

I would be very suprised if Norwegian customs don't take an interest....

Would still be a good price.

    3700 $/ 1.06 (vat Florida) = 3490 $ (Price i would pay in USA)

    3490 $ * 1.25 (vat Norway) = 4362 $ (+ excess baggage, don't know how much)

Price on the same bike in Norway = 6300 $

That's quite an interesting site is "davidsworld.com", for my Trek Madone 5.9 it costs $4199, in pounds that is £2583, when I bought it here in the UK in november I paid £3300.

Everything costs more in the UK. Not only due to the 17.5% VAT, but they just generally seem to charge more!!!

Rarely (jf ever) will you find a similarly priced item in the US as in the UK (even with exchange rates and taxes added on.)

    Go figure

When I was in Florida through the summer,I went in to Davids Cycle World in Orlando.

All the staff seemed to know what they were talking about  and were very pleasant.

    Cheers

You could try posting here as well. http://www.bikeforums.net/ Mostly US members and there is also a "Regional discussions" section for the southeast USA. 8)
