Jo Blow air release valve... ?!

Got a new Joe Blow Sprint floor pump.

They have a nifty air release button, that you use to get the exact psi. Pump crudely, then let a tiny bit out via the button (I thought) to get the exact pressure.

Except when I press the button, a little air does come out, but the dial shoots to zero making the whole process useless.

Bust? Or are the buttons a gimmick that never work?? Mine has been like this from new. Most odd. I'll send it back but wanted some opinion before I go through the hassle to find the new one is the same!

I have the same pump and never use this. I tried it and it let too much air out with one tiny push. I'm not bothered cos you can get exact pressure by pumping is up just like other floor pumps. Bit of a useless gimmic IMO. I bought it because it has the pressure gauge on the top of the barrell which make perfect sense compared to to squinting to the gauge at floor level on other track pumps.

Anyone else got one that works?? I want to hear asap so I can decide whether to return it. Might as well get whan I pay for.
