Interesting mix of sprinters in there.

OMG - Sky were only fifth - and outsprinted by RadioShack. The ignominy.

    Is the dream over?

I heard not having radio's makes race more exciting, so I'm expecting big things from Astana!

Not much of a start from Sky in their first stage race. I know there was a crash but, apart from Henderson, everyone else was nowhere.

Steegmans could be one to watch this season. Was McEwen in 8th on merit?

I must say the colours of the shack and BMC boys are a little too close.

You always have to look twice to see who is who.

Also, why isn't he inside of cadel's shorts red and not black? his racing kit colurs need some sorting out.

it's swiss vs italian style - Bettini looked great!

Either it's Swiss vs Belgian, or Aussie vs Italian by the way....

Nasty crash from a Caisse rider at the feed stop. Griepel didn't have the HTC train in the final furlong. Henderson was really well positioned behind Sutton but Griepel was too strong.

Bloody hell, I was hoeing Downing could challenge for the overall, although I'm pretty sure he isn't there to do anything much.

Like the little downhill stretch after the rise to the line... good win from Andre...

Who the hell is telling Agritubel that their kit looks good. I thought they would've changed that for this year... bloody awful..

Tour Down Under = Greipel. Not worth tuning in really. If this race was mid- or end of season hardly anyone would ride it and there would be few viewers. The only interest is that people haven't seen any riders, races, bikes etc for a few months.

Downing also doing domestique duties according to his comments on the sky website so he wasn't really in it for the race win anyway

The TdU isn't really selective enough to delivery anything other than a sprinter to the GC victory, so unlikely Downing focussed on the overall. Unless there's a break that goes away and stays away, but that's highly unlikely with so many good sprinters (backed up by strong teams) in the bunch.

Give the SKY boys a break, you can't be expected to win/podium every race!

Yesterday you made the comment "why don't we support the riders who ride best and win?"

Sky lost. We're all supporting Columbia HTC today.

exactly, shameful comments being made about this new team rather than get behind them and wish them the best. Silly fans some of them are

But I think a lot of people are just not particular fans of anyone on the squad. Most cycling fans are not fans of team but rather certain riders.

When someone leaves Man U for Real Madrid to all the fans become Real fans? No, because their loyalty is with the team, not the player. Conversely, in cycling, loyalty tends to be with the individual athlete.

failure? I really don't see Henderson getting 5th as failure? The entire team quitting the race cos they just can't be arsed anymore - thats failure...
  • It's going to be a long season, if the first two races are anything to go by.
What gives with this new football mentality?
Do we all have to be assimilated by the Bikeradar Borg collective?

There are 20+ teams out there.
I wish them all success, this season......even the.....er....Shack.

  • Blazing Saddles a Secret LA fanboy?.....Joke. but yeah i fan that fits into the group of suporting certain riders but i also do have certain teams i have a soft spot for Garmin and CSC/Saxo Bank and dislike certain teams - Quickstep and Astana and now the Shack!. wish Sky all the best...plus 5th is really not that bad. consistant winning will take time plus AG is faster that Henderson hands down anyway team or no team.
