What cycling comps are on Sky Sport?

Wondering whether or not to cough up the extra £9 pm for Sky Sports 1 (or 2?). Not worth it just for the TdU. Where can I find what events they plan to cover? There is a 'Fixtures' list at http://www.skysports.com/cycling/ but its not clear if these will be shown by Sky? Hard to believe.
Thanks

None of them. Most of the cycling shown throughout the year is on Eurosport or ITV 4. Sky have the TDU and that's it.0

THANKS. You just saved me £9 pm
Eurosport 1 & 2 costs just £1 pm
p.s. blimey, now they just won in their first race, can we expect Sky to start muscling in and paying silly rices for TV rights?0 -
You'd think they'd show some of the big races with them sponsoring a team and that. They showed the Tour Down Under charity opener race- with the dream team of phliggot and sherwine commentating.0

Why would they do that? What's the point in marketing your product exclusively at people who are already interested and buying it?"In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

Most European races belong to a collective agreement to broadcast the TV images on free-to-air channels, the team sponsors want to reach the greatest number of people of course.0

Sky have the tour down under and since I just recently cancelled my subscription I was a little ...hmmmm.
But then they show half hour highlights on the web site totally free ! so why i am going to subscribe !
I dont get sky's service either, cancel sky sports and I lose soccer saturday on sky sports news even though i subscribe to other sky programs, cancel the lot and get a free view box and I have soccer saturday back again for nowt !0 -

I am going to be alone here among all the millitants on the forum but I for one hope they do. Eurosport chop and change cycling schedules all the time (apart form the tour) can hardly ever deliver a program on time meaning if you record you have to record the program after also.
They also have varying talent on commentary. The giro and tdf team is pretty decent the others are as bad or worse than s and l.
Criticise the politics of how they do business all you like but personally I think the sky service and sky sports (as an avid NFL fan) deliver, and kick the backside out of eurosport or santanta when they did footy/boxing.0 -
As Kleber pointed out, cycling events need to be on free to air channels. Also, in the english language there are limited choice for cycling commentators.
I think you'd be hard pressed to beat Mr Harmon for rocking the mic during live cycling.Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -
i fear sky will start to try and muscle in on rights for two reasons: they have a team now and cycling is the 'new golf'- lots of middle aged old farts like me like to ride and watch0

I think there's an element of the 'new golf' thing, but if you look at the logos on the jerseys they're light blue, the colour of Sky in Italy & other places around the world, not the navy blue & red logo we get in Britain. And I guess Eurosport can be part of your Sky package anyway.0 -

I already pay £18 pm for basic Sky TV 'Entertainment' package and simply added Eurosports 1 and 2 (plus a few others that come with the bundle) for £1 pm0 -
Watch tour down under highlights on teamsky website about 30 mins after they have been shown on sky sports.0

You can actually get EuroSport for free if you have or can get an old pre-digital Videocrypt Sky receiver and point your dish at Astra 19.2E and then tune the audio to English commentary (7.02). Have been doing this for years now. Just bought a Phillips Videocrypt off ebay for £9 and hooked it up to an old dish. No subscription needed!
Think they finally de-commission the Astra Satellite in April 2012, but could be anytime before that.
Get the TV guide from www.eurosport.de as it's basically the German Eurosport times on Astra0 -
Who televises the UK elite circuit series? I thought that used to be on Sky :?0

Tour Series was covered on ITV4 last year.0

I dropped SkySports when I realised Eurosport was part of the news package. Saved £££'s and also with the TDU being on youtube pdq, seems like a no-brainer.
Agree with @thamacdadday though. Eurosports ad-hoc rescheduling and chopping of cycling is deeply annoying. Sky would do much better in this area.0 -
Sky would do a great job with cycling, apart from Phil and Paul polluting every broadcast that is.0

From what i'm getting on twitter it seems like Sky have their own commentators for the live stages of the TDU.
Chris Boardman has been twittering about how he's doing the Sky commentary this weekend.
I'd guess we get Phil+Paul for highlights though.0 -

Liggett and Sherwen did the commentary, Boardman (complete with Hank Scorpio beard) was in the studio with some dude who had clearly never watched a bike race in his life.0 -

... HD is no friend of Hank Scorpio's beard... though rest of the show was quality... only problem 24% of my hard-drive was burnt up recording it.... damn shame i cant keep that last 30mins !0 -
Look, Sky are pulling a eurosport, tuned in for the TDU and got football.
Luckily it's on Sky Sports 2 at 6:30pm0
