Howdy,

Have been looking around for a bike sat-nav for a while now to accompany me on my treks off road, usually like to do a 30-50 mile loop, think the sat-nav would take the guess work out of the v in the road !

Narrowed it down to these three:

Memory map which i think has the highest resolution screen, and is supposed to refresh quickly also has good online software (leaning towards this model at the mo)

Satmap Active 10 which had fairly good reviews on the gadget show, nice big screen but is also the dearest !

Finally the Garmin Dakota 20

All three look like they could meet my needs, would love to hear some feed back from people who own any of the above

I have a Satmap and its the best gps i've used.I bought it before the MM one came out and would be tempted by that if i had the choice now.The only downside of the Satmap IMO is the size...its huge.A load of Mountain rescue teams use the Satmap(probably got them for nowt 8) )

Garmin GB explorer maps don't zoom in well. The MM looks great but in the end, I went for the Active 10 because it can take AA's. I'd hate to be stuck out there with no plan B if the rechargable ran out. It is a bit big on the bike though but seems to work very well.

Good point about the AA's, hadn't thought of that, is the satmap waterproof or "as i think i've read somewhere" just weather proof??

It seems to be properly weatherproof, but I wouldn't want to submerge it!

Good prices here when I got mine. Plus package + a bike mount seemed the a better deal than the bike package.
