Shimano xt freehub wobble

I wonder if anyone in the know can advise me whether my freehub is faulty.
I bought some shimano xt wheels and after about 2 months use i noticed the back wheel has some side to side movement.
after taking the cassette off it appears the movement is in the freehub, the shop suggested sending it to shimano, but also stated that it could be normal movement.
Is this a common fault?
or is it perfectly acceptable?
