Embarrasing Pump Problem

I bought a mini pump the other day, as my old school one was knackered.
Its one of those 6" long affairs with a little clamp so you can fix it to the frame if you want, a nice pressure gauge & a little red button.
Changed the tyres & tubes on my lasses bike, put the new pump on, and nothing.
Hammering away for 5mins, the gauge goes up to 50psi, nothing goes in the tube though? press the red button & the gauge drops down to zero with a short hiss.
Tried it on the two tubes on the bike, and two spares, nothing is going in.
Have i bought a fubar'd pump, or am i being totally stupid & doing something wrong?
Ta.

what are the valves_
if presta you need to unscrew the valve retainer. if car type, or for both types, is the pump head set correctly?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Given the thread title, I though that the OP might have been suffering from explosive flatulence...0

Sorry, its just the Schrader valve.
Pump head set up? Sorry, i'm not sure, i thought you just tightened up & pumped? The odd thing is that the gauge is going up as i pump, but theres nothing going through to the tube?
After the Jalfriezi the other week i had embarassing pump problems, well, the person sitting next to me in the van, driving for 4 hours had the problems.2009 Kona Blast Deluxe - W.I.P Started...

some pumps need the insides swapping around for presta and Schrader. what did the instructions say?
Or what in the make and model of the pump?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Ah, there were no instructions, bugger.
I will find out the make & model when i get home from work, cheers.2009 Kona Blast Deluxe - W.I.P Started...

I had to do this with my pump.
I felt a right plum trying to inflate the tube with it the wrong way round F ing and jeffin and then realising it was my fault. :oops:Eagles may fly high but Weasels dont get sucked into jet engines.

What do you need to do to change it?
There was me thinking the easiest bit was going to be inflating the tyres!2009 Kona Blast Deluxe - W.I.P Started...

unscrew nozzel head where the valve is inserted ,
inside the valve chamber there is a plastic tube insert , pull it out , turn it round and put
back in , ie facing the other way round.
should now work.0 -
Will give it a go, thanks very much!
