Can the quick release mech on these bags take the pounding? Or would it be better to find a bag with a strap fitting?

  • I have a Scicon, I haven't used it much, so I can't tell you how much of a "pounding" that they will take, but the quick release thing does not seem to be very strong, so I would say, it won't take much of a pounding. I would advise getting something else, I am tempted by a Topeak, they look more hard-wearing.

I have a Topeak and the clip broke and it fell to the road. Luckily I heard it and the car behind missed it.

I have the smallest Scicon bag, the design of the QR should mean it is quite strong (the way the bracket fits inside the fitting on the bag - cant't really describe it), I have used it for over a year with no problem. As for taking a pounding I'm not sure what that would entail on my road bike, I just ride normally. I have had a Topeak and the clip broke.

A bonus was that I emailed Scicon in Italy to ask where I could buy a fitting for a second bike, they posted me one free of charge 8)
