looking to replace my Tioga Factory 1.95 tyres they are front and rear specific
I was thinking putting a 2.35 on front with 2.1 on rear
I am not sure if i should find another set of these in a larger width or try something else out
I dont need folding tyres as i am not to bothered in the weight saving as I carry far to many pounds
I mainly ride on Dartmoor and Haldon, I am also looking to do the Exmoor Explorer in Aug
I also do a small amount of riding the canal paths at Exeter
I have seen the tioga tyres on Wiggle at £13.49 but they are out of stock anywhere else that sell these cheap?
any other recommendations for tyres and where to get them would be much appreciated
cheers

Folding tyres aren't just lighter they are usually grippier as they are more supple & conform to the terrain better than wire bead tyres, quite often they have a different rubber compound too.

For general use either Panaracer Fire XC Pro or Kenda Nevegal work for me.

Never got on with Tioga tyres way too unpredictable & not very grippy at all IMHO

  • My brothers focus came with them continentals as standard. Not alot of tread on them babys and dont bite well.

I would say very similar to my fast freds.Which are good for skin of your pants cross country. He changed them after 1 ride for the panaracer firexcpro which are awesome,

    Hope this helps Jay

My bike came with Conti Mountain Kings as standard which were fine in the dry but dreadful in the wet and boggy and also prone to punctures. Swapped to Panaracer XC Pro Kevlars and they are excellent do it all tyres.

Merlin are doing good deals on them at the mo as well.

  • I remember the days when everyone had Tioga tyres! Because it was cool to have "factory" on your tyre  Or maybe that was just my group of friends

If funds allow, pop over to Wiggle and get a pair of these (they are the decent folding type ones) and then use the code BONUS-10GBP for £10 off, making them only £21.99 each :D

    Hope this helps :D

[edit] If you want the red ones in 2.1" then PM me as I have some brand new and unused, also bought from Wiggle as I've gone for the black ones so no longer need them.

I`d go for either Maxxis High Rollers or aDvantages in 60a guise. IMO they are by far the best allround tyres for British trails.

No, they aren't! The ones you get on new bikes are not likely to be the expensive ones! Mine had the SpeedKings which seem similar to MountainKings - fast rolling but not up to much in mud. I have bought a pair of Nevegals for my next off road trip - 2.35 StickE for front, 2.1DTC for rear. Seems to be a standard recommendation so hopefully they'll be good. £30 the pair from All Terrain.

I've got those Tiogas, not very good, very very heavy! If you just want a regular do everything tyre that'll deal with a bit of mud, a bit of roots, a bit of hard trail, then a pair of maxxis highrollers or kenda nevegals should do you right, not too expensive and great allrounders. (Maxxis's tyre naming and sizing is like some sort of secret code but they're good tyres, Kenda are the size they say they are and do what it says on the side)

I got the Continental Gravity 2.3 for the front - http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=18849

Also, I got the Ritchey Zed 2.1 for the rear - http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=37276

The Continental is very good but the Ritchey is average.

    Pretty cheap choice though :D
