Boys and girls...

Im having a dilema. Currently planning a new bike from Ribble. Just struggling with what wheelset!

Suprisingly like the look of these http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/sp/road-t ... UPEWHFR100

BUT!!!

Can't find out anything, no manufacturers page, no reviews... nothing! I'm liking them as I already have a set of light weight wheels for hilly races, but currently nothing for flat TT style, which is why they intrigue me (oh and the price is nice).

Anyone! someone! please help me!

Mark

Haha! I shall reply to myself...

Just got off the phone from Ribble and I have solved the mystery...

The wheels are re-branded as Ribble's own basically.. Made by the usual suspect... Dedacciai.

although further probing of their website didn't bring up any hits of them.. hmm..

Did you get any stats from them? The dedacciai website and google don't give any clues away as to rim manufacture so I'm guessing they don't actually make the rims, just assemble the wheel perhaps?

THis is what i got back from them...

"To be totally honest we have little to information on them until they arrive around the 19th Feb. The Superleggera wheels you have seen are made by Superstar and they are just a model of wheel. These road Superleggera wheels are our own in house brand so you will find no manufacturers site. I do know from memory that the front wheel with skewer was 1300g.

    Regards,

    Alan. "

You tell me then! I think they're gonna be heavy!

Seems a little ridiculous right? Im wondering what the back wheel will weigh! I think I'll be emailing them again tomorrow to get more info.

Seems a shame as they look nice, and the price is awesome!

Had another frantic email session with my contact yesterday...

Even he said 1300g seems a little off for the front wheel. He had a chat with someone who has actually held a pair and it seems to be around 2kg for the pair. He has no idea where he got the 1300g from, but he thinks the scales they used may be to blame.

Stock is due on the 19th of Feb... Im now debating whether to bite the bullet and order... so i'm guarenteed some, or hold fire and see how others like them first...

You don't want a front wheel of 1300g weight if that is true believe me, no matter how pretty they are.

Looks like they're on the website now. I noticed them as Ribble have a competition to give a pair away advertised on the inside cover of C+. At £500 look a very good buy as long as they don't weigh as much as the 1300g quoted.

Be interested to know what people say when they get the stock in.

What alternative is there at £500ish for 50mm carbon rim clinchers for Campag?

I've never seen any wheels made by Dedacciai, nor any rims. Most people get their carbon rims from one of a handful of asian rim makers. Gigantex is probably the best known of them.
