Bit of a problem

Hi all, went for a small bike ride today on my new bike, its a boardman comp fs, anyway when i was in 2nd gear on the left and 5th gear on the right and i wanted to shift up to 6 on the right is takes ages to shift, but going down from 6 to 5 is ok, any idea how i can fix this
