Just got back from a ride unfortunatley I went down heavy on some ice bending the gear hanger. I managed to straighten it up so the bike was rideable less a few gears and crap shifting. Is it possible to straighten it or best just to replace it?

Also managed to crack the face plate on the stem so I'll have to the Hope or Thomson one now. Didn't notice the crack until I was cleaning it down.

LBS might be able to straighten it for you (I believe there's a special tool).

That was quick. I was more concerned that the metal would be fatigued and may fail on a ride if I straighten it but I may just take it to the LBS as I am short on time due to work. At least I then know it will be sorted for my next ride.

it may fail or be too bent but you don't know until you see it or try.

After looking at the "tales from the workshop" thread I think I'll get a new hanger, straighten the current one and keep it as a spare. If I can't get the shifting sorted then I'll take the bike to LBS as the hanger mount on the frame must be damaged and need aligning.

Mine wasn't anywhere near as bad as the Marin in the above thread.
