Well today was first time cycling since tearing calf muscle in November.
Only 10 miles on the MTB, but it felt like 30! Legs a little stiff afterwards as has been first exercise I have done in about 8 weeks.

However, glad to do it, and there was a few decent hills in the circuit to keep me honest.
All on backroads as the trails were iced over and unridable.

Hopefully be back on the commute a week on Monday, as off skiing for most of next week.

Great to be back, just need to get the miles in, a good few weeks of pain and torment ahead!

:D:D:D

I'm hoping to get on my bikie for first ride since my accident in November, tomorrow

Hoping to manage 5 - 10 miles assuming my knee holds up - but not sure my knee is up to it

I need to get back on bike as doing LEJoG in summer again hopefully

Well, it was hard, lost so much fitness in last 8 weeks. My calf held up well, but had a small niggle from the back of my knee, think the tendon has taken a bit of a pounding and has weakened somewhat over the weeks, but that will be sorted with a gradual build up of exercise.

Wish you all the best for tomorrow and your LEJOG, I am doing (hopefully) Glasgow to Durness in the spring, so need to crank up the miles soon!

  • I'm always really surprised at how quickly basic fitness returns after a spell of enforced absence. It feels awful for a few days or a week at most, before you hardly know you've been away :)
  • Are you going skiing in Scotland or somewhere more far flung? Just curious as I'm off to Glenshee on Saturday...

Mate lives in Munich, I fly over then we head to Austria, he has booked some place near the German border. Should be a hoot! Last year I broke a rib, so have to take it easy this year. Yippee!!

Well looks like the return to the commute will have to be put off.
Will now be in London next week and week after, so no bike fun for me.

Still, better now rather than May or June.....

Just hope no rib breaking in Austria the rest of this week.
Did I tell you I am off skiing!! :P

I will have a Weiss and think of my bike.

How does being in London compute into no biking? What'd I miss?

Our roads not good enough eh?

Ha Ha. Would love to try a little cycling in London, after Maryhill Road I am sure The Embankment would be a breeze, and you have such lovely DRY weather....

But alas, I will only be able to have 1 bag with suit and shirts for my stay. Not enough room for the bike and gear.

I will be in the big smoke next Thursday night and the one after that.
No plans as yet, but if you are partaking in an ale or two, I would certainly be interested.

I will keep an eye out next week and see what is happening.
Won't be about on Friday night's though....

Sods law ain't it. You just get back on the bike after illness/injury then something happens which means you can't commute :(

Well, the good news is i didn't break anything apart from my bank balance... the Jaegermistiers and weiss beer were excellent though, and had too many.... but will have to get myself in order. Cycle, run, spin, badminton, squash..... a few months of hard work!!
