First ride of the year today (first since December 28th ) and the roads are in an appalling state. Mind you, I'm in appalling state too cycling-wise.
I don't think I made many motorised friends this morning by riding way out from the kerb but I felt it necessary. Tried to compensate by letting more cars out at junctions than I normally would.
There was something in the local rag about the council encouraging people to report pot holes. I think there are entire roads that may need relaying.0 -
As per an earlier thread, here in Ireland's capital city some of the grit was put out by chucking it off the back of a lorry by shovel. Big piles of the stuff just waiting to sandblast the cycling public and pedestrians by passing lorries. More salt being delivered soon also - just in time for the thaw. Wonderful stuff!0

First ride 6 weeks this morning.
Alarmed by the number of new potholes. Gonna take months, if ever, to fill all themSpecialized Venge S Works
Cannondale Synapse
Enigma Etape
Genesis Flyer Single Speed
Turn the corner, rub my eyes and hope the world will last...0 -
The roads were terrible today. I can't believe how bad they actually are.0

Some massive potholes around here, in my car there are some I can't avoid and just have to try to get through without wrecking my wheels! The roads I cycled on yesterday though were surprisingly good though. Worst roads I've seen lately were the M4 near Slough and the M25 between the M40 and M1 clockwise. The M4 had a pothole that could have easily killed a motorcyclist!0

same here, on both counts, the roads north west of Newcastle were a mass of potholes
I was up that way yesterday too (Tranwell, Whalton, Scots Gap) on my first ride out since crashing in late November and the roads were shocking. The worst thing was going through some of the deep puddles and not knowing whether you were going to hit a deep hole lurking underneath the surface0 -
