I find regarldess of manufacturer I'm between M & L lid sizes. So if you were between lid sizes which would you go for? The bit snug (it'll give a touch and be cool), the bit loose (pad it out and fine)?

I'd try out other manufacturers first. Different manufacturers often have differing cut-off points between sizes.

But if that fails, and you're stuck on one particular helmet that you like, go for the larger one so that you can fit a skull-cap underneath it in colder weather.

I'm exactly the same, i have a bell sweep for mtb in L that i use for road in winter as i can fit a ear muff under it, my usual helmet is Giro in M!
i need a new helmet as fell off on boxing day, i'm going to look at the catlike helmets as they have a different sizing parameter where i'd be just right for a L

Funnily enough it's a Catlike whisper plus I'm trying to decide on at the mo; my missus kindly got me a size L for Christmas, feels a bit big so I've got an M on order, so you never know I may have and unused L for sale on here shortly (she got it in Nov, so too late for an exchange).
