Anyone know? I'm thinking of going on a hilly ride tomoz but don't want to bother if it's full of snow still.

The snow is off most of the roads, but the high ones like the Cat&Fiddle are still very icy with huge banks of snow either side.
    Check:

For news of the roads local to Buxton.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Will,
I'm going to be going out there too - I think I'll just go up Brickworks and then back the way I came.
I've been out for an hour today for the first time on my new bike and realise that I've lost lots of fitness in the last couple of months. The bike is compensating for me though -it's magic!
    have fun tomorrow

I went out today, and found it hard going, too much cement clogging up my drivetrain.

Flintshire county council have run out of grit.

Looks like they decided that any brownish stuff will do to grit the roads.

In the morning, it's an Ice rink here in Bollington. In the evening, it's just wet. The cycle of freezing/melting continues every day but it's not supposed to go below zero tonight so you may be ok tomorrow.

I'll give it a try, gonna ride up towards macc then turn off and go through pot shringly then up to the brick works and work me way to Long Hill, then down into the Goyt Valley then up to the top of where the car park is then decent Blaze Hill.

Any groups go riding? I'm riding on my own most of the time now, I've decided to stop riding with the wheelers for the time being.

Yeah Will, quite a few alternatives to the Wheelers. These look promising.

I know one of the ladies from college days and she says it's a good club. Apparently a LOT of people turn up so there are different rides depending on speed every Sunday. I used to see them out all the time when I first started riding and they were always chainganging it at stupid speeds so I never could catch up! Was actually thinking about meeting them tomorrow if the weather's good.

Bhima, you interested on coming for a ride tomoz? It's going to be mixed, going down congleton way and around 80ish miles.

Might do 100 if you do come along (With cafe stop if needed)

I've ridden with the Seamons fast group and just about managed to hang on so you lot should be fine. I think they're a really nice bunch. I want to go out with them again but I don't think I'm fit enough after so many weeks off the road. Maybe next weekend I'll try again.

Was not too windy, I went up down to northwich. I'm knackered now, god knows how I'm able to manage 120mile very hilly rides back home

I was thinking of trying to push the mileage up and get into wales for a couple of miles.

Roads were great today, but there's a lot of flooding round the Pott Shrigley/Bollington/Rainow area due to increased thawing. There were a few new potholes about, but all in expected places, as they seem to just be old road imperfections which have been cracked open further. Most smooth roads have stayed smooth, thankfully.
