iv been riding for 2 years now at cannock, FoD and afan so iv developed my skills relatively well. Im 13 and am interested in racing.What would be a good first race for me?

Hi I'm 14 i've been racing for a couple of months and I'm part of a club.

The ctaergory for British Cycling races for under 14s is B so if you look on there website(www.britishcycling.org.uk) that might point you to a race near you or if you are part of a club you ask them.

Look for the 'Go Ride' races on the British Cycling calendar as they are for junior racers and they appear to be spread around the country at regular venues.

Its a cyclocross event but mountain bikes are allowed. You can enter on the day and all the local clubs will be there and its local to you.

As a starting point would highly recommend that you get in touch with the coaching team at your local club Solihull CC. There is a growing MTB race team of all Youth ages, and a planned training programme thats supports all of these towards race events. Many of the u16 and u14 are riding this weekend at Sutton PArk at the National cyclo-cross champs as well.
