I DO NOT believe it.
My card has been compromised yet again. This time the swines have booked a £1500 plane ticket on it.
Thankfully Barclaycard were on the ball and phoned me straight away.
This is beyond a joke now.!!!

I've had my card details comprimised twice over the years. The first time was prior to engaging in the purchasing of bike porn. It is very easy to get paranoid and suspicious of all retailers, be that high street retailers or online stores.
Personally, after long consideration I feel that the problems arose (on both occasions) due to the banking sector outsourcing many of their operations overseas.
I thankfully managed to get back all of the money from the fraudulent transactions, but it was a real PITA.Cycling weakly0 -
goooooood afternnnnooon maadaaaam this is George from the bank of uganda there is a pidgon in your bank account. If i could just have your account number and sort code then i can remove the pidgon from your account.

Thankfully I use a Mac so should not be an issue. I do run a scan every fortnight just to be sure.0

I don't drive so that rules out petrol stations nor do I use restaurants or pubs.
I either use chip and pin in Asda or Evans and the rest of my transactions are online.
Just damn annoying having to cancel the card then wait for a new one to arrive!!!0 -

You should, they can both be quite fun
More seriously, sorry about your problem. It's not uncommon, unfortunately.0 -
Still, it temporarily stops you using it to buy stuff you don't really need ....Life is like a roll of toilet paper; long and useful, but always ends at the wrong moment. Anon.
Think how stupid the average person is.......

I was once booking a flight (a few years ago) and the agent made a mistake on the Credit card machine (the old type) and threw the damaged receipt away.
The conversation went like this:
Me, "can I have that receipt, please."
her: "It's damaged"
Me "Yes, but it's still got my details on"
Her: "It's in the bin, we'll throw it away"
Me: "I want it back, just for security"
her: "But our bins get dealt with securely" (she smiles)
Me: "I want it back or I'm canceling the flight!"
A few months later, the same travel agent was done for fraud! I wonder how she managed to find the details of customersCAAD9

Ah, I would tell them then, ask for an explanation and for them to come back with a answer. I would want peace of mind.0 -

Interesting story - one for the memory banks. I'll be aware of that in the future - thanks.0 -

Thing is nobody’s interested even if you know exactly where your card details were taken. I don't live in the UK, but I have a UK bank account and hadn't used my bank card for at least a year. Ran out of cash to pay a bar bill when I returned home last year, so used the card. Slightly odd transaction, the card reader didn't work, so the girl at the bar had to take my card to the reader in the kitchen. Why I wasn't immediately suspicious I don't know. A few weeks later I spotted that a bunch of cash had been withdrawn from a bank in India. I called the NatWest who cancelled that card immediately and did eventually refund the money. But they weren't in the slightest bit interested in following it up, even though it could have only been taken in one place.
Also had my company credit card done last year. I was impressed with the credit card company’s security though, within an hour of a dodgy transaction they’d phoned me up to check whether I really had spent 500 USD at Party Poker dot com. Apparently if the guy had won, the winnings weren’t going to be credited to my card.0 -
I don't think mentioning the company whose name sounds like Giggle is stupid in any way as their name has been linked to CC fraud with depressing and disturbing regularity.Cannondale Supersix / CAAD9 / Boardman 9.0 / Benotto 30000

Don't put too much faith in firewalls. There are literally hundreds of exploits attacking open ports like your web browser if that hasn't been updated.
The most important factor is Windows users tend to use Admin accounts thereby giving open access to everything a hacker desires. Linux users tend to use user accounts and sudo or "super user" for access to higher privileges rather then the Admin (root).
It's extremely hard to hack a Linux machine even without a firewall, yet fair easy for a Windows with one.CAAD9
