Alright guys?

I'm in the market for some road shoes.

My £20 4 year old decathlones with velcro are looking a bit tired and are very heavy.

Not looking to spend more than £80 unless they somehow make me faster than the Schleck brothers.

Any recomendations?

I have small feet (size 7), and they're quite narrow at that.

Will mainly be using them when it's hot.

I've seen some specialised comp sports and elites for £80 in my local bike shop, but, honestly, I wouldn't know what to look for beyond comfort.

I take it a tight fit (with those ratchet things?) round the top of the foot/bottom of ankle is reasonably important?
I'm guessing at that price range stiffness will be more or less the same across most of the shoes. I'm only 54kg so it's not like i need some hefty reinforcement or anything.

What would you guys suggest?

Cheers.

Specialized are comfy - I'd go for that as a main priority.

I'm not convinced with the buckles and fishing wire loops to secure the shoes - theres just more to break. Not much can go wrong with velcro and I dont think you need to be able to ratchet up your shoes unless you're racing.
  • I was thinking of buying my wifo some of these

The plan is to start racing this year...

It's still just a plan at the moment though.....

Ebay is your friend - I picked up some new Northwave Aerators for £56 this year - original retail was £200.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

These Shimano ones look like good value with carbon soles and are available in small sizes. I've got some similar ones and also have pretty narrow feet.
