Hi all

Can anyone recommend some summer weight gloves (buying in advance) that have a decent knuckle pad/protection pads on?

I have some excellent Scott winter ones with a monster knuckle guard on but all the summer ones across all brands seem to be a bit sparing on protection.

I've seen some with carbon guards for two knuckles but not a full spread, so to speak.

For the road ? Why ? I think you'd be better off asking on the MTB sections ?

I've never needed knuckle protection on a road bike - are you expecting trouble ?

I got some Alpine Stars ones from CRC great gloves, Daines do some nice carbon knuckle ones as well.
Colnago C60 SRAM eTap, Colnago C40, Milani 107E, BMC Pro Machine, Trek Madone, Viner Gladius,
    Bizango 29er
  • I think Oakley do 4 knuckle ones.

Dainese, POC, 661 and a few others do 2 knuckles which cover the ones that usually bounce off trees/lamposts.

Wierdly I've cracked or broken my right hand little finger knuckle bouncing it off trees about 5 times, but never my left....

I think it's my self=preservation genes kicking in - It's extra protection without too much extra on you. Admittedly you could go the whole hog with bmx knee pads (next winter for defo!) but that would be overkill for the road.

My winter ones have taken a kicking and have saved my hands so didn't want to 'lose' any protection but needed some in lighter weight.
