Folks,
Is it possible to fit a SRAM XX groupset on a S-Works Stump Carbon 2007 frame ?
Thanks,

There's nothing different in the way XX mounts to any other groupset.

No there are some compatibility issues with certain frames.

Would this not be complete "overkill"? I could understand putting XX on an S-Works Epic but I just don't see the point on a Stumpjumper? Don't get me wrong I also have an 08 S-Works Stumpjumper, which I love, but I would have thought that X0 or XTR would do the same job given the nature of the frame?

    Hi Richard-Dublin,
Thanks for the viewpoint, but why exactly is this ? Why would it be overkill on a stumpjumper frame, relative to, say, an epic frame ?
    Thanks

Knock yourself out, there is no reason why a Sram XX won't work on a 2007 stumpjumper

Well, in my opinion, I can understand somebody spending large amounts of money on an "out and out" race bike, like an S-Works Epic, to save small amounts of weight / make marginal performance gains. But a Stumpjumper is a trail bike (albeit a very good one) and no amount of money will change that. So I think the money spent on XX will not give any perceivable performance gain over X0 or XTR.
Just an opinion and as I said above I love my Stumpjumper!

    It could be a hardtail...

The 2010 Stumpy comes with XX anyway.

I'd ask Spesh which chainset would work, there's a choice of Q-factors.

Good point! An S-works hardtail with XX would be a really cool bike!

It's probably not, as it was really just called an S-Works carbon hardtail, but even so!

I'm sure a number of S-Works hardtails will have XX anyway!
