hi all, i have just bought a avid bleed kit for when ever i need to bleed my brakes, i found it cheap so got it

on the leaver it says DOT 4.1.
but the oil i got with the bleed kit is DOT 5.0, can i still use this in my juicy 3s?

    for Avids you want DOT4 or DOT5.1

    DOT5 does not want to go anywhere near any bike brakes.

  • yea sorry, it is dot 5.1, so i am fine in putting dot 5.1 in when there might be 4.1 in them?

    and just curiosity why not 5.0? what's the difference between the DOT oils?

    there is no such thing as DOT4.1

    DOT5 is silicon fluid and just about the only user is the US Armed forces and it is not compatible with either mineral or glycol based fluids.

    well ill just stick to the 5.1 i got in the kit :P
